6 Tips to Save Money on Your Wedding

Organising your wedding day(s) can be really exciting, but can also be tiring, complicated, and very expensive. Once you start researching online, you’ll realise that there are so many ideas and suggestions out there, making it even harder to stay focused on what you really want and need for your big event. An event planner could save you the hassle, but if you are organised and have time available, you can also do it yourself.

Saving money on your wedding

If you don’t want to spend a fortune on small things that don’t count that much, here are 6 quick tips on how to save money for your wedding:

  1. Start asking for offers for your wedding party from at least 3 different event venues, keeping your event date flexible. Don’t be afraid to negotiate as much as possible on the initial offer you receive! You can always negotiate on the amount of food they offer, the drinks package, etc
  2. The DJ vs the live band. Having a live band can be cool, but it is more expensive and the sound might not be that great and you still need a DJ! The DJ is clearly the one setting the tone of your party, so they should really know what they are doing, and you need to communicate clearly about the music you like. In both cases, always good to go for recommendation, and discuss all aspects of their job during the reception, such as technical aspects, playlist, and the important moments during the reception that need to be marked. Of course, always negotiate.
  3. A good photographer is important to have, but the price does not necessarily hint at the skills of the person taking photos, so make sure you go through recommendations and, again, negotiate the price! Talk about the photo session, the hours they will work, and how many pictures they will give you. Depending on how much you are into videos, you might want to ask a family member to take some raw footage of the important moments during the ceremony and reception. Your guests, as well, will be taking photos and filming, so ask them to share their material after.
  4. Be critical with spending on your wedding accessories. These include venue decoration, tables, candles, and any other small items you might need. Here are tips on how to create the table name sitting and here is some inspiration for your table decoration.
  5. Say yes to the wedding dress you like, but do not go overboard with the price. Keep in mind it’s still a dress that you wear for roughly 20 hours and never again. A less expensive dress will also look good in photos! The same story goes for the groom, but they might actually be able to wear the suit again for a different occasion.
  6. Bridal bouquets and Godmother’s or Made of Honour’s bouquets can be rather expensive if you order/buy them. It is a great idea to do them yourself if you have a bit of inspiration. This can save you also quite some bucks, and give a personal touch to the wedding. They are not too difficult to make especially when you can find a bunch of tutorials on Youtube.

And remember…

This is one of the most important events in your life, so enjoy it, have fun, and do not go into bridezilla mode. Better get an event organiser if you have no experience with event planning!

Also, alongside you, newlyweds, there are the wedding guests, family, and friends, who are there to share your moment because they care for you, so make sure you show them appreciation, talk to all of them, and thank them for coming!

Sharing is caring!
